Neil Young's Amp and "Old Black"

January 28, 2018

Here's another NAMM Show surprise, our new shop amp: Neil Young’s 1972 Marshall Super Lead 100 and 4x12” cabinet. Neil used this amp to record “Rockin’ in the Free World” and other songs on his album Freedom. He also toured with this amp in 1989. Special thanks to Evan Renberg for giving it the once over after 28 years in storage.

To go along with it, we’ve built an “Old Black” Super Glide Almighty: black over goldtop nitro with a vintage Bigsby B-7, Arcane Firebird and P-90 pickups, an old-growth Brazilian board, vintage celluloid inlays, and an aluminum guard and cover plates. This very special guitar will be available through our friends at The Music Emporium.

Come by booth #3033 and try your best “Powderfinger”!
